Harp Day 2014 Info Release

It's that time of the year again- time for Harp Day! 

Date: March 22nd, 2014

Location: First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia (2125 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia PA). 

Price: Free for members, $12 for seniors and students, $20 for general public. Members can bring up to two family guests, and all attendees receive breakfast and lunch.

What to expect: Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and coffee as well as snacks will be provided. Workshops this year will include Jazz Improvisation by Brandee Younger (participants will have the opportunity to perform their new skills in our final concert), Performance and Practice Habits by master harpist Anne Sullivan, Harp Maintenance by technician Peter Wiley, and a Q and A with Brandee Younger about her successful jazz harp career. Our final concert will feature many of Pennsylvania and New Jersey's great harp ensembles including The Harrisburg Harp Ensemble, membersof HarpAntics, Philadelphia's own Young Artists Harp Ensemble and Play on Philly Harp Ensemble, among others. Lunch will be provided by Paesano's and there will be vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Stay the entire day and you may win one of the Harp Day goodie bags, which include gift certificates, CDs, and even a string bag!

Although Harp day ends at 3:00, this year an after party will be taking place at 6:00 a block down the road at Caffeination Coffeehouse. If you brought your harp, never fear, you may leave it at the church until the end of the party. At this event you will be entertained by the Brandee Younger Quartet with Brandee Younger on harp. A free light fare buffet will be provided by Caffeination and beverages will be available for purchase.
